As a class, we watched a clip from 'Outfoxed' which showed Bill O'Reily seemingly attacking a 9/11 victim's son. The episode had been edited to make it look like the interviewee was accusing George Bush of starting the war in Afghanistan. Obviously, this is a very hot topic in the States with the majority of Outfoxed viewers being Republican supporters and therefore in favour of Bush. Therefore, as a result, O'Reily was manipulating the situation and undoubtedly trying to turn the viewers against the victim's son so O'Reily could make his point and have everybody agree with him and his opinions.
It is known that Rupert Murdoch owns Fox News. He is famous for his opinionated and shocking ways. It could be said that Fox News reflects just that. It is an example of how an international channel can be so heavily influenced.
